About The Bothy
This part of Garraway House had served since Georgian times as the wing for the Rector’s resident servants. It occupies the first floor of the southern wing of the house and has fine views of the gardens and fields beyond. The rooms are flooded by sunlight in the summer months. Easily accessible from the drive by entry in to the garden door, the accommodation is completely separate from the remainder of the house.
In Victorian times the wing became the Nursery wing where young children were lodged with their nanny. The day and night nurseries and the nanny’s bed-sitting room, two bathrooms as well as her kitchen and an apple store were all converted into modern living space. When we bought Garraway House our own young families loved having their own private wing.
Fully refurbished
Now that there are fewer in permanent residence I have refurbished the wing for my own ever expanding family and for friends, but also for the use of visitors wanting well-equipped, comfortable accommodation at a moderate price. The rental includes full oil-fired central-heating.
Sitting Room
There is a Smart TV and set top box in the sitting room as well as a library of maps, local information and brochures as well as a list of recommended places to eat. There is a sofa bed in the sitting room should it be needed.
Kitchen
The kitchen has new electric appliances: fridge freezer, micro-wave, toaster and kettle. The built in oven and hob above is also electric. Hot water is by immersion heater.
Bedrooms (2)
The Bothy has a twin-bed double room, a single room and there is a sofa bed in the sitting room should it be needed.
Bathrooms (2)
There are two bathrooms and hot water is by immersion heater.
Garden
The use of the Summer House with garden seating is available. It overlooks the well-maintained former Rectory garden and is a private space for use of The Bothy residents.
Children
We do not charge for small children and babies sharing their parent's bedroom. Please bring your own travel cot. We can provide one high chair and a stairs gate.

A Christmas tree, decorations and lights can be supplied, plus a free range turkey or goose from a well-known free range supplier.
